1) Shabbat in the Park/ Overlook Park (7/19)
It’s time once again for one of our favorite events: Shabbat in the Park! Our purpose is to provide outreach to unaffiliated eastside Jews, and let them know of events on our side of the river, along with other resources they might not be aware of.
Join us at Overlook Park (in North Portland at N Interstate and Fremont) for a wonderful evening under the stars. Stumbleweed, a traditional bluegrass band, will play from 6 pm until dark. Bring a picnic supper to dine on as you enjoy their music.
At 6:45, a brief service to welcome Shabbat will be led by Rabbi Ariel Stone and will feature Stumbleweed. We’ll have hallah to share afterward, and the band will take the stage again and play until the sun sets.
Overlook Park is a lovely area, on the bluffs overlooking the Willamette River and downtown Portland. A nice play area is perfect for the kids.
Don’t forget to bring a blanket or beach chairs!
Overlook Park is on the Interstate MAX Line, making it easy to get there!

2) 2013 Overlook Yard Sale & Free Share
Don’t forget this year’s neighborhood-wide Yard Sale will be held Saturday July 20th with the accompanying Free Share happening Sunday July 21st. Folks looking for great deals should come out and see what their neighbors have to offer. A map showing the locations of all of these amazing sales will be posted on Sustainable Overlook’s website by Monday July 15:

If you’ll have your own yard sale that day but didn’t sign up, no worries, the amount of foot traffic through the neighborhood on Yard Sale days is typically very good, so despite not being on the map you can probably still count on a good deal of interested visitors.
Finally, don’t forget about the Free Share on Sunday the 21st as well. Even if you didn’t participate in the Yard Sale, but would still like to give away unwanted items, please place them in your yard or near the curb with a FREE sign on them. At the end of the day any unclaimed items should be brought back inside or given away to Community Warehouse, Salvation Army or any other charitable cause.

3) TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Broadway Bridge closure (7/16-19)
Safety work to close Broadway Bridge sidewalks for bicycle, pedestrian use Tues. July 16 through early morning Fri. July 19
Work to maintain safety on sidewalks on the Broadway Bridge will require closing both sidewalks to the public from 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 16 until 5:30 a.m. on Friday.
The Broadway Bridge is on one of the busiest bike routes in Portland , carrying thousands of bicyclists a day. Signs will indicate bicycle and pedestrian traffic detours to the Steel Bridge . Cyclists are advised to expect delays and use alternate routes, including the Steel Bridge .
Closures of the bridge to motor vehicle traffic are scheduled for the following weekends:
· July 13-14, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
· July 20-21, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
· (If needed) July 27-28, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
3b) Free Streetcar Rides! Portland Streetcar to offer free rides across Broadway Bridge during sidewalk closure, Tues. July 16 through Thurs. July 18
To reduce the inconvenience to the traveling public during an upcoming closure of the Broadway Bridge sidewalks, Portland Streetcar Inc. will provide free rides across the bridge during the closure.
Work to maintain safety on sidewalks on the Broadway Bridge will require closing both sidewalks to the public from 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 16 until 5:30 a.m. on Friday.

4) Stormwater Master Plan Wants YOU (Aug-Oct)
Are you interested in how the Port of Portland will handle stormwater in the future? The Port is currently going through a Master Plan process for stormwater infrastructure at its Portland facilities. The Port will convene a public stakeholder working group in late August and early October to provide interested stakeholders with more information about how the Port currently handles stormwater and to review the Port’s approach for future stormwater management. We all live and work in the same watershed and we think that input from our neighbors is an important part of planning for the future.
