1) Share your free stuff this weekend

Sustainable Overlook, a committee of the Overlook Neighborhood Association, might have canceled the annual neighborhood-wide yard sale this year to help prevent spread of coronavirus, but that doesn’t mean you can’t unload some gently used items you no longer need.

The free annual Free Share is underway this weekend. Place cleaned items curbside with a clearly marked FREE sign. Then take a walk around the neighborhood and see if there’s anything you didn’t know you needed. Please remove items from curbside by Sunday evening.

2) Airplane lands at Greeley and Going

Shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday, a small fixed-wing airplane landed safely at the intersection of N Greeley Avenue and N Going Street after losing power. The four people aboard suffered no injuries, and the plane did not collide with any vehicles on the roadway.

Swan Island used to be an airport, so maybe the pilot wasn’t so far off. OKNA is glad to hear that a potential deadly situation turned out alright in the neighborhood.

3) July OKNA general meeting canceled

The Overlook Neighborhood Association will not hold a general meeting in July. The next general meeting will take place via Zoom on Aug. 18.

In normal years, we hold a summer social event in August, but due to COVID-19 social distancing requirements we are unable to do so. The board hopes neighbors are able to join us to discuss what’s happening in the neighborhood next month.
