1) Mississippi Street Fair (Saturday)
Head over to Mississippi Avenue for the annual street fair featuring 200 vendors and crafts. More than 40 bands will perform on six stages. The family-friendly event runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Visit the website for a complete list of events.
2) Mural design ideas sought
The Overlook Neighborhood Association has been working with a local artist and local business to install a large mural on a building near the intersection of N Interstate Avenue and N Shaver Street. Before they start painting, though, they want to hear your ideas for what should appear in the mural. What images define our neighborhood? Particular focus will be directed toward Overlook history, its environment and people.
Send your ideas to info@overlookneighborhood.org.
3) Sign up for the Overlook Yard Sale & Free Share
For the fifth year in a row, Sustainable Overlook is organizing a weekend to come together as a neighborhood to give new lifecycles to items in our homes by selling, sharing and socializing in the process. This year’s event will take place Saturday and Sunday, July 18-19. Items will be for sale on Saturday and anything left is free on Sunday.
Every year great deals abound as together we turn unwanted items into newfound treasures. Mark your calendars and come on out.
If you would like to participate in the yard sale and have your house shown on the map that will be advertised to the broader public, sign up online. The deadline to sign up is Monday. You don’t have to appear on the map, but it will help everyone find your sale.
