1) Interstate Avenue to close southbound at night
Interstate Avenue will close to southbound vehicle traffic in Overlook from south of the Kaiser Permanente Building to North Knott Street from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Monday, June 3 to Thursday, June 6. TriMet MAX service should not be interrupted. Interstate Avenue will remain open to bicycles and pedestrians until N Graham Street.
Signs will direct drivers to detour on N Skidmore Street to Martin Luther King Boulevard and then N Russell Street.
Bikers and pedestrians will be able to continue further south than motorists. They should cross to the east side of Interstate at Greeley (near the bottom of the hill) then take Graham to Mississippi to Russell and back to Interstate southbound.
This work is part of a project to repair and replace a number of freeway joints on the elevated sections of Interstate 405 on either side of the Fremont Bridge and from I-405 north to U.S. 26 west. These repairs will improve the condition and maintain the long-term safety and use of this heavily traveled freeway.
Related traffic impacts next week include a single lane closure on the ramp from I-5 south to I-405 south nights Monday to Friday, a shoulder closure on I-405 south off-ramp to N Kerby nights Monday to Friday, and a lane closure on N Kerby/N Cook for staging equipment 24/7 until fall 2020.
