1) OKNA Board meeting on Tuesday

The Overlook Neighborhood Association Board will meet on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Historic Overlook House (3839 N Melrose Dr.) The agenda includes updates on development in the neighborhood, mail delivery and more. Anyone is welcome to attend and observe the board discussions.

2) Homeless camps in Overlook  to be cleared

KOIN news reports that the large, unsanctioned homeless camp on the west side of the Failing Street pedestrian bridge will be cleared. From the report:

In the past month or so, there have been more than 30 complaint to the City of Portland about the homeless camp in the Overlook neighborhood, near N. Montana and Failing. Neighbors in the area said it’s gotten so big they don’t feel safe walking past this camp alone.

The city also has listed the large homeless camp at N Interstate and N Going to be cleared.

The city issues a weekly homeless campsite report. It includes information about sites that have been cleared recently and that will be cleared soon. If you wish to report a homeless camp, you can do so using this online form.

3) Nighttime I-5 ramp closures

The Oregon Department of Transportation will resume nighttime ramps closures this week. Closures in Overlook are the I-5 south to I-405 south ramp and the Going Street on-ramp to I-5 south. The ramps will be closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday to Friday. View a detour map and more details at i405ramps.org.

Construction is underway to repair and replace a number of freeway joints on the elevated sections of Interstate 405 on either side of the Fremont Bridge and from I-405 north to U.S. 26 west. These repairs will improve the condition and maintain the long-term safety and use of this heavily traveled freeway.
