Transportation Safety Summit is tomorrow night with Mayor Adams
PORTLAND, Ore. – Mayor Sam Adams and the Portland Bureau of Transportation sent a reminder today that Portland’s sixth Transportation Safety Summit will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, at Jefferson High School from 5:30 to 9 p.m.
“Safety is my top priority for transportation. It has been since my first day on the job in 2005,” Adams said. “I started the summit to share safety data and community trends and to set goals. Last year’s data indicates that we continue to make progress, but also demonstrates that very important safety work remains undone. Please join me to discuss what safety issues you’re experiencing in your neighborhood and how we can help.”
The Transportation Safety Summit is an opportunity to learn more about Portland’s transportation safety trends, increase awareness of safety projects, identify innovative tools and techniques that PBOT uses to make our streets safer, collaborate with transportation safety professionals and share feedback.
The 6th Transportation Safety Summit is free and open to the public. In years past, attendees have included community members, businesses, transportation safety professionals, non-profit organizations, government entities and others interested in transportation safety issues and ideas.
Adams will be joined by PBOT Director Tom Miller, TriMet Safety and Security Manager Harry Saporta, ODOT Region 1 Manager Jason Tel, and Portland Police Traffic Division Commander David Hendrie to discuss the state of transportation safety in Portland. In addition, a conversation will be facilitated about the High Crash Corridor Program and Neighborhood Transportation Safety.
