3) Good Budget Result for Public Safety

Greetings all-

The Mayor announced this past Friday that he will be fully funding the Crime Prevention program and not cutting a crime prevention coordinator position. I want to thank you all for the time you took to reach out to your City Council and voice your support for the Crime Prevention program.

It is our continued privilege to serve your neighborhoods and with this revised budget we will remain at full strength to maintain our current level of staffing and service.

Thank you-
Mark Wells

4) Recycle Tennis Shoes for Roosevelt

Have you been wondering what to do with all of your old used and abused tennis shoes???   Re-Cycle them!!  Keep them out of the Landfill, collect as many worn out shoes as possible and turn in those stinky sneaks into the smell of victory.  By doing so you can help Roosevelt receive money for equipment.  Just drop off your used tennis shoes in the Recycle barrel in the Main hallway at Roosevelt.  Show some Sole!!   Athletic shoes only and any brand is OK.  No damp or muddy shoes please!   Also, No metal, cleats or dress shoes.  No sandals or Flip-Flops!!  Thank you so very much for supporting our youth.

Jerry Cowan is a longtime Overlook resident and has a current approval by the State of Oregon Child Care Division background check to work with children. Jerry hosts a free storytelling hour at The Overlook House, 3839 N. This is an opportunity for parents to relax, meet the neighbors and enjoy some quality time with their children.  The stories are based on ancient Native American legends and myths crafted for children of all ages. Children must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.

8) JOE HAMM  Memorial – SAVE the DATE (6/30)

Joe Hamm lived in the Overlook Neighborhood for over 60 years and raised 4 daughters here.  Joe lived in the family home until May 1st, when he died at the age of 95.  He had many friends in the neighborhood.  He was an avid fiddler, and taught fiddle, guitar, and ukulele to many Overlook neighbors.  Joe was very involved in the Oregon Old Time Fiddlers Assoc (OOTFA), and would jam with them several times a month.  The upcoming Memorial/Jam/Dance will be for Family, Overlook Neighbors and Friends, and OOTFA members.  Please join us for memories, music, dancing and fun.  Many of Joe’s friends don’t get these emails, so please pass the news to any neighbors that might be interested.  Thanks.
