Special OKNA meeting about Greeley homeless camps

Update: An agenda is now available.

The Overlook Neighborhood Association (OKNA) board will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 16 at the Historic Kenton Firehouse (8105 N Brandon Ave.), 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss OKNA’s next steps with regard to the homeless camps near the intersection of N Greeley and N Interstate avenues. Representatives from Mayor Charlie Hales’ office last week announced that the city intends to acquire nearby land from the Oregon Department of Transportation and to issue a permit to the Hazelnut Grove camp that would allow it to remain on the site. What will go into that permit remains an open question, and OKNA has been invited to make suggestions.

The board wants to hear from OKNA members* at Wednesday’s meeting. Testimony will be limited to a maximum of 3 minutes per member.

* Membership in OKNA shall be open to all residents 18 years of age and older and business licensees, property owners and one designated  representative of non-profit organizations within the boundaries of OKNA as  defined in ARTICLE X of these bylaws.
