1. Interstate Farmers Market opens this Wednesday (May 19)!
From the Interstate Farmers Market…
The Interstate Farmers Market begins its 6th season this Wednesday, May 19, 2010!
We are so excited to kick off the season and hope you will join us. Our vendor lineup this year is looking great. We'll have some past favorites like Deep Roots Farm, Herr Family Farm, Packer Orchards, Philleo Farms, and Micro Mercantes.
We've also got some great vendors joining IFM for the first time this season: Profarm Produce (Organic/Transition only), Aichele Farms, Boons Ferry Berry Farm, Captured By Porches Brewing, Eccentric Acres, Fifty Licks (ice cream), Gabriel's Bakery, Olympic Provisions (Oregon's only USDA certified dry cured meat producer!), Thai Mama, Mr. Green Beans (green coffee beans), The Hummus Stop, Trailhead Coffee Roasters, and Sage and Sea Farms (drinking vinegars and pickled items).
On opening day, farmers report they'll be harvesting fresh berries, rhubarb, asparagus, lettuce and other greens, peas, leeks, herbs, onions, pears and more!
Come hungry and thirsty and enjoy some local fresh-roasted coffee from Trailhead, locally brewed beer from Captured by Porches, Thai Mama's egg rolls, a porchetta sandwich & fried pasta fritters from Tavola Catering, handpies from The Pie Spot, and lots more!
As usual, the market is located at 3550 N. Fremont St., at Interstate Ave., next to Overlook Park, (across from Kaiser) on the Yellow Line Max. ***Parking is available at Kaiser Permanente!***
Hours are 3pm to 7pm and we're a true Oregon market: we're there rain or shine, so come support us through the showers and earn your bragging rights for when the sunny weather comes!
Stop in on your way home from work to pickup dinner, groceries, or an afternoon treat.
We look forward to seeing you all Wednesday and every week through September!

Bank of America $200,000 & $5,000 Grants: June 1 Deadline
As community leaders in Metro Portland and Vancouver, we want to let you know that the Bank of America Charitable Foundation Neighborhood Excellence Initiative is underway for 2010.
