2) Apply for the County Community Involvement Committee

Are you looking for an opportunity to learn more about local government, help Multnomah County improve its programs and services, and ensure community input in county decision-making?

The Multnomah County Office of Community Involvement is currently accepting applications for two vacancies on the Community Involvement Committee (CIC). The CIC is a panel of 15 volunteers from throughout Multnomah County who are appointed by the Board of Commissioners. They work with county officials, departments, and the community to facilitate and enhance opportunities for community participation.

The CIC plays a crucial role in bringing community voice into county decision-making. CIC members engage in an ongoing study and discussion of the county’s priorities, programs, and procedures. Together, the committee makes recommendations directly to the Board of Commissioners and county departments about Multnomah County’s programs and policies .

There are currently openings for an at large member, who may reside in any district in Multnomah County, and for a member from District 1, which includes all of Northwest and Southwest Portland, parts of inner Southeast Portland, as well as all of unincorporated Multnomah County west of the Willamette River and on Sauvie Island.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the District 1 position, you must be a resident of District 1 in Multnomah County and be nominated by a neighborhood or community organization located in District 1. At large members must be residents of Multnomah County and be nominated by an incorporated community organization.

You must also be available to attend monthly CIC meetings, which are generally every third Tuesday in the evening.

How to apply

To apply, complete the online application. Nomination letters should be emailed to community.involvement@multco.us. (View a sample nomination letter.) Applications should be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on Oct. 12 to meet the first review deadline.
