At the first meeting of the newly elected Overlook Neighborhood Association Board this week, Board members chose an executive committee and committee chairs. OKNA has more than a dozen committees working to keep Overlook the best neighborhood in Portland. A complete list of committees and chairs is below.

2) I-5 Southbound to I-84 eastbound ramp to close
The Oregon Department of Transportation will be working on the I-5 southbound to I-84 eastbound ramp beginning this weekend through the morning of Oct. 20, plan ahead to avoid construction delays during work hours.
The ramp from will close each night the week of Monday, Oct. 8 from 10 p.m. through 5 a.m. the next morning. The ramp will be closed 24-hours-a-day starting Friday, Oct. 12 at 10 p.m. through 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 15. The ramp will then continue to see nighttime closures through Oct. 20.
The schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.
3) PBOT ends Leaf Day fee
The Portland Bureau of Transportation announced this week that it will no longer charge Portland residents to pick up leaves during Leaf Day, the city’s annual fall leaf cleanup program. PBOT also released the 2018 Leaf Day schedule. The southern part of the Overlook Neighborhood (Between Going and Overlook Park and between Interstate and the bluff) is District N9 and will have pickup on Dec. 11. Residents in the zone may rake their yard leaves into the street for pickup that day.
For the majority of the Overlook Neighborhood that does not receive leaf pickup, the city will consider adding new zones on a case-by-case basis. Residents who think they, too, should get taxpayer-funded leaf pickup should email PBOT at leafday@portlandoregon.org.
Portland’s tree canopy covers a significant portion of the city. In autumn, wet fallen leaves can become very slick, creating potential hazards for people walking, biking, rolling or driving through tree-lined neighborhoods. Leaves can also clog storm drains and thus contribute to street flooding during heavy fall rains. To help address these hazards, city crews have been removing thousands of cubic yards of leaves from Portland streets for more than three decades.
Since 2010, PBOT charged residential customers $15 per leaf removal. Commercial and multi-family properties with over four units were charged $65 per removal. Those fees will no longer be charged.
4) Ask Mayor Wheeler to greet your new neighbor

If you would like a letter from Mayor Ted Wheeler, email mayorwheeler@portlandoregon.gov with the subject line: Letter Request and provide in the body the name of the person you’d like the mayor to welcome, as well as any other details you’d like included. Please request letters 1-2 weeks in advance.
5) Public safety in North Portland
If you have a specific public safety concern, problem or question that you’d like addressed at the upcoming North Precinct Public Safety Action Committee (PSAC) meeting, please notify the North Crime Prevention Team (north.pdxteam@portlandoregon.gov).
PSAC and the Crime Prevention Team will meet Thursday, Oct. 11, 6-8 p.m. at the New Columbia Community Education Center (4605 N Trenton). Please try to submit your questions as soon as possible so that the public safety experts are able to address them fully at the meeting.
