Overlook Neighborhood Update (Oct. 27)

1) Historic Overlook House Halloween Party

2) Portland’s crows

1) Historic Overlook House Halloween Party

Thursday is Halloween. Tiny Overlook ghosts, goblins and ghouls will take to the streets seeking treats lest they deploy their arsenal of tricks. If you happen to be out driving be sure to be extra careful.

If you’re a parent looking for some neighborly Halloween fun, swing by the Historic Overlook House on Thursday with your little ones for a fun evening of games, spooky dancing and healthy treats.  Join the fun 4-6 p.m.

Avoid the  the dark and the rush with your little kids (ages 0-6). The house is warm and dry and a great place to show off your costume before trick or treating. This event is free to our neighbors and friends. Friends of Overlook House appreciates donations to keep this neighborhood resource going.

2) Portland’s crows

On winter nights, crows gather by the thousands in downtown Portland, creating a dramatic spectacle that some find a nuisance and others see as a natural wonder.

Join  your North Portland Neighbors to learn more about crows, their role in urban ecology and our neighborhoods, the history of crow roosts, and the controversies around them.

Urban Naturalist Rebecca Provorse will lead the conversation about our avian neighbors on Saturday, Nov. 16, 3:30-5 p.m. at the Historic Kenton Firehouse (8105 N Brandon Ave).
