A reminder that the October OKNA General Meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 18 has been canceled. We are working on an exciting agenda for the November meeting.
2) Compatible infill development lecture (Oct. 17)
Portland Together presents a talk by Noré Winter — Compatibility Matters: Lessons from Around the Country on Compatible Infill. Winter will discuss his experiences around the country helping fast growing cities plan for growth while protecting their resources of existing single-family housing. His comments will suggest alternative approaches to the current recommendations by Portland’s Residential Infill Project (RIP) as they relate to moderating scale of new construction in our traditional neighborhoods.
After his presentation, a responder panel consisting of Bureau of Planning and Sustainability RIP staff and RIP advisory committee members will address questions to Winter to explore how his experience may shed light on Portland’s current challenges. The last 30 minutes of the event will be devoted to Q&A from the audience.
The event is free, but a donation to the Architectural Heritage Center is encouraged. Learn more about the event and register online.
