1) Santa is coming to Overlook House (Sunday, Dec. 3)
The jolly old elf himself will arrive via firetruck on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 11 a.m. Kids will have a chance to whisper what they want for the holidays as they prepare to have their picture taken by the fire with Santa. There also will be face painting and a chance to listen to children’s favorite Red Yarn, who will be performing on the lower level at 11:15. This seasonal visit from Santa is sponsored for the neighborhood by the Friends of Overlook House.

2) Mountain biking in Overlook Park?
The Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability has released its Off-road Cycling Master Plan Discussion Draft for public review and comment. The Off-road Cycling Master Plan blends a citywide vision with opportunities to increase off-road cycling across Portland.
Of particular interest to Overlook Neighborhood residents, both Overlook and Madrona parks are identified as potential sites for off-road biking in the future. The report notes about each, “This site is not currently recommended but may be appropriate for off-road cycling trails or bicycle parks. The City may want to explore expanding off-road cycling here if there is community interest or if nearby recommended sites prove unfeasible. The site may have challenging site conditions or natural resources that should be addressed in the design, construction and management of any future facility.”
Several other sites in Overlook are identified as not-suitable for off-road biking trails. Also of note, an off-road urban bicycle corridor would pass through Overlook along Willamette and Greeley.
What do you think of these plans? Share your thoughts with the city. The comment period for the Off-Road Cycling Master Plan Discussion Draft ends at midnight on Dec. 31.
