1) OKNA November general meeting
The Overlook Neighborhood Association will hold a general meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom.
On the agenda are a presentation by the developer of a proposed eight-story affordable housing apartment building at N Jessup Street and N Minnesota Avenue. We also will introduce the co-chairs of the OKNA Land Use Committee.
From the developer:
The proposed redevelopment is of a 1/4 block, 10,000 SF site adjacent to the I-5 Freeway in the North Interstate Plan District. The proposal includes 72 residential units in a new approximately 53,500 SF, 8-story building. 100% of the units will be offered at 60% Average Median Income (AMI), and are proposed as a mix of three-, two- and one-bedroom apartments. The site currently contains a single-family house built in 1942 and a duplex from 1978. All stormwater to be disposed of on-site through the use of on-site swales and drywells.
The project team is dedicated to the creation of new, permanent affordable housing units that are close to existing high-capacity transit and other urban amenities.

3) New bakery in The Prescott
The former home of The Eisenhower Bagelhouse in The Prescott Apartments on N Interstate Avenue has new tenants as of this week. Ben and Sam’s – The Vienna Bakery is open for business and serving a variety of Austrian baked goods, chocolates, coffees and teas. Stop by between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily to support this new business in the neighborhood. Follow them on Instagram for more information.
4) Overlook House Santa Visit canceled
Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Multnomah County and additional restrictions put in place by Gov. Kate Brown, Santa’s visit to the Historic Overlook House has been canceled.
Please note that the event was canceled after the winter edition of the Overlook Views, in which Santa’s visit was highlighted, had gone to press.
The Overlook House regrets that this was necessary, and hopes Santa is able to return in 2021 along with the many other events held at the neighborhood landmark.
