Overlook Neighborhood Update (June 23)

Patton Square Park fundraising success

Friends of Patton Square Park and the Overlook Neighborhood Association are happy to announce the successful completion of our fundraising campaign.

Thanks to funding from the Parks Replacement Bond and planned drainage repairs for the Patton Square Park playground, this has been a unique opportunity to come together and raise funds to further improve and expand the park by installing new, accessible and interactive play opportunities for children under the age of five. A playground will benefit the many families moving into new units going up in Overlook and surrounding neighborhoods. Friends of Patton Square Park raised more than enough money to purchase and install five new play pieces at the park.  Construction is expected to be completed this summer.

We thank Commissioner Nick Fish for dedicating $15,000 from system development charges (SDCs) to the playground project. Those funds incentivized donors to match, which they did.

We thank all of the generous neighbors and businesses who donated to help ensure this important project moves forward. Together they contributed $20,750.

Donors included:

  • Forty-five individuals and couples contributed $3,040 total.
  • Eight businesses (adidas, Fairfield Residential, Aprende con Amigos, Hardware Security Resources, Ethos Development, Atomic Pizza, Firelight Yoga and Ger-Brock Automotive) contributed $16,850.
  • The Overlook Neighborhood Association contributed $500.

Friends of Patton Square Park anticipates that after the project is complete, a balance of $6,000 will remain. That money will help pay for a party to celebrate the project’s completion. Remaining funds will be held by OKNA for future expenses such as repairs and replace pieces as they age.
