1) OKNA general meeting on Tuesday
The Overlook Neighborhood Association will hold its monthly general meeting on Tuesday, July 16, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Kaiser Town Hall (3704 N Interstate Ave.). We will hear about proposed developments at 1521 N Humboldt St. and 1404 N Killingsworth Ave. There also will be a presentation about crude oil shipments in Portland. Check out the full agenda.
2) Noise at adidas on Saturday
Adidas has given the neighborhood a heads up that construction will be a little noisier than normal on Saturday, July 13. On the South building, workers will cut through concrete for the elevator shaft opening. It is a fairly thick concrete lid and will take some time to cut through. Workers also will be installing a PGE primary line at the corner of Sumner and Delaware. All work will take place within the current perimeter fencing, and there will be noise from excavation and hauling off soil.
All work will take place during normal construction hours, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
3) The end of neighborhood associations?
The city of Portland is developing a possible ordinance that would eliminate neighborhood associations from the code for the Office of Community and Civic Life (formerly the Office of Neighborhood Involvement). The Oregonian had a recent story about the change and what it could mean for neighborhood associations.
OKNA Board Chair Chris Trejbal spoke to KBOO radio about the changes this week. Listen to his interview on their website. (Fast forward to about 15 minutes in, 17:08 remaining.)
4) Mississippi Street Fair on Saturday
The annual Mississippi Street Fair will take place Saturday, July 13, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mississippi Street, just across Interstate 5 from Overlook, will feature food and vendor booths as well as live performances. Check out the full schedule on the official site.
