1) Happy New Year from OKNA

The Overlook Neighborhood Association hopes all of our neighbors have a wonderful and safe New Year.  2017 was very busy for the neighborhood. We’ll continue to work to keep Overlook Portland’s best neighborhood. Looking ahead, we’re hopeful that some of the longstanding challenges for the neighborhood will resolve positively in 2018.

If you head out to celebrate New Year’s Eve, please be sure to keep yourself and everyone else safe. Take advantage of travel discounts:

Also remember that garbage pickup this week will be a day later than usual because of the holiday.

2) How should Portland Parks cut its budget? (Jan. 4)

Mayor Ted Wheeler has asked city bureaus to propose budgets for next year that include a 5-percent cuts. The savings of $5 to $20 million will offset increased labor, pension and inflation costs.

On Thursday, Portland Parks and Recreation will present options for budget reductions to the public. All members of the public are invited to join the conversation.
