1) City finally starts to arrange mediation with homeless camp
When Mayor Ted Wheeler visited the Overlook Neighborhood Association a month ago, city officials said they would organize mediation between OKNA and the Hazelnut Grove homeless camp in hopes of developing a Good Neighbor Agreement. Finally, today, that process might be starting.
Staff from Commissioner Chloe Eudaly’s office contacted OKNA to let us know that mediators will be in touch in the next month. They also indicated that no discussions are underway about the long-term plans for the homeless camp.
OKNA remains committed to finding a constructive path forward to ensure the safety of the neighborhood. We are disappointed that the process is taking so long, especially when the city is already seven months past the deadline by which it had pledge to remove the homeless camp from a wildfire hazard zone along the bluff.
We will continue to keep Overlook neighbors updated in weekly updates and at our regular meetings. Stay tuned.
2) Earth Day repair café (Saturday)
Stop by the North Portland Tool Library on Earth Day (April 22) with your malfunctioning goods. Volunteers will be fixing small appliances, garments and bikes as well as sharpening tools/knives and fixing small engines
Please only bring 2 sharpening items per person.

3) Art in North Portland
Disjecta, the nonprofit contemporary art center in Kenton, is offering discounted tickets to North Portland residents. The center is currently hosting Spiritrials over the next few weekends as well as a kids-focused program called Hip Hop History for Kids.
