1) Earth Day Neighborhood Clean-up (4/26)
Join your Overlook neighbors for a secure shredding event tomorrow, April 26.

Instead of taking bulky items (old couches, mattresses, furniture, scrap wood) to the dump, bring them just a few blocks from your house! Money raised at the clean-up will help pay for Arbor Lodge’s Movies in the Park, and trash cans to Denver Ave. We provide the dumpsters and volunteers to help you unload.
Items we accept: Household junk, reusable building materials, metal and tires, reusable clothing and furniture for free swap pile, styrofoam, rigid and peanuts, E-waste (anything with a cord or battery) but no fluids, fuels, or bio-hazards.

The annual April campus cleanups have arrived; pitch in and make your local school beautiful for the spring!
Beach School cleanup Saturday, April 26 from 10-12. Bring a tool you want to use and get a donut! Everyone is welcome.

3) Repair Café at Kenton Firehouse (5/1)
Thursday May 1st the North Portland Tool Library is hosting a Repair Cafe at the Historic Kenton Firehouse, 2209 N Schofield St,Portland OR 97217 from 6pm to 9pm.
There are many exciting repair folks coming!! What can we fix?
Clothes and linens (pants,shirts,dresses etc)
Small appliances (Vacuums, lights, food chopper etc)
Bike: (tune up and diagnosis)
Speaker and Amp’s
Jewelry (broken or missing clamps, hooks, eye rings and more)
Handyman: Need to get some gadget working again?
Leather: (Shoes and belts and more)
Don’t see what you need to fix your stuff, bring it by anyway with this much fixit knowledge and determination you might just find someone who can help you out.

4) Liquor Licensing Forum (5/7)
The City of Portland’s Liquor Licensing Program will be hosting a public forum on City of Portland liquor licensing and alcohol policy.
- Learn about problem solving strategies with liquor license locations
- Understand the policies of the City of Portland Liquor Licensing Program
- Inform City Staff of concerns related to alcohol and the direction you would like to see the City go

5) BDS Citizen Adjustment Committee (5/12)
The Bureau of Development Services has announced a search for interested citizens to fill two vacancies on the City of Portland Adjustment Committee.
The Adjustment Committee considers in a public hearing setting appeals of Type II Adjustment decisions rendered by Bureau of Development Services staff. Adjustments are requests to modify the development standards of the Portland Zoning Code (Title 33). The Adjustment Committee meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month, if necessary, during normal business hours. Each meeting typically lasts approximately 2 to 3 hours.
Committee members serve four-year terms and may be re-appointed. The terms shall be a maximum of four years with a maximum of two full terms. The Committee consists of seven members, none of whom may hold public elective office. The Committee must include three persons representing the public at large; two members in urban design, architecture, or landscape architecture; and two members experienced in engineering, financing, construction, building management or land development.
There is currently one vacant position that must be filled by an individual representing the category of “engineering, financing, construction, building management or land development.” Beginning June 30, 2014, there will be an additional vacant position that must be filled by an individual representing the category of “public at large.”
Application forms should be submitted by May 12, 2014, to the Office of Neighborhood Involvement, with a cover letter describing the applicant’s interest, background and experience, or a resume.
