3) Speakeasy Roundtable (4/16)

It’s time again for another Speakeasy round table for Overlook business owners. It’s another opportunity to connect with a variety of business owners in the area to promote your business and to share advice. 4) Overlook House Egg Hunt (4/19)

Did you just see some bunny ears and a little white cottontail on the lawn at Overlook House? That means it’s almost time for the Egg-stravaganza – the annual Easter Egg Hunt for Overlook children 5 years and under! Bring your own basket and hunt for treat-filled eggs and tiny Easter treasures! A special prize awaits if you find one of the shiny Golden Eggs!

5) Portland residents prefer street fee? (4/16 – 5/1)

400 poll respondents may be responsible for you being charged up to $144 annually to pay for unnamed transportation improvements. Or street repair, we’re still not sure. If you have an opinion about this and were not one of the 800 people phone-polled, you can make your voice heard at a transportation funding town hall; there are several more coming up:

Mayor Hales, Commissioner Novick and Transportation Director Leah Treat will welcome the public and discuss transportation needs and funding options at the town hall events:

Wednesday, April 16: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO), 10301 NE Glisan St .

Thursday, April 17: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Kaiser Permanente’s Town Hall, 3704 N Interstate Ave.

The town hall meetings will provide an opportunity for the public to speak with transportation staff, ask questions and make comments for the mayor and commissioner to consider as they explore ways to improve transportation funding.

6) Overlook Sewer Project Construction Update: April 9, 2014

Killingsworth Street (Greeley to Interstate): Crews are connecting homes and businesses to the new main public sewer pipe between Concord and Interstate.

Final paving of Killingsworth between Greeley and Boston Avenues is scheduled for April 21.

There will be traffic disruptions when crews are working on Killingsworth Street. Drivers and bike riders using Killingsworth should observe traffic control signs, and avoid work zones where possible.

Instead of taking bulky items (old couches, mattresses, furniture, scrap wood) to the dump, bring them just a few blocks from your house! Money raised at the clean-up will help pay for Arbor Lodge’s Movies in the Park, and trash cans to Denver Ave. We provide the dumpsters and volunteers to help you unload.

Items we accept: Household junk, reusable building materials, metal and tires, reusable clothing and furniture for free swap pile, styrofoam, rigid and peanuts, E-waste (anything with a cord or battery) but no fluids, fuels, or bio-hazards.

The City of Portland invites you to participate in upcoming budget-related events.

These meetings offer Portland residents the opportunity to share with City Council how they will be impacted by the City’s budget decisions and to express which City services are most important to them. 10) Intersection Repair Coming Up (5/31)

Whoa!! Big Party at the Intersection! It’s time to give the Intersection a fresh coat of paint! We’ll be putting a brand spankin’ new coat of paint on the street mural and the planter boxes. There will be Food and Drink, Music, Booths about Bee-Friendly Gardening, Emergency Preparedness and more. And of course, neighbors of all ages painting! Let’s break the record of 180 helpers!

11) Dog-poop stings coming to Portland playgrounds (incl. Overlook)

Be a good neighbor and scoop your dog’s poop!

Multnomah County intends to conduct clandestine poop-policing operations at select school playgrounds this May.

Targeted enforcement of leash and poop-scoop laws will be conducted at three Portland schools next month: Beach School, da Vinci Arts Middle School and Duniway Elementary, said Portland Public Schools spokeswoman Christine Miles.

Dog owners at those schools have been particularly delinquent in their duties, said Miles.

Beach Principal Rebecca Torres said Tuesday that parents at her school were sick and tired of owners who won’t curb their canines on the school’s playground and fields.

As part of a new push, Multnomah County Animal Services will conduct leash-law stings and write $150 tickets to violators starting in May. The city operates more than 30 off-leash parks where pouches can play and poop as they please, according to the city.

Portland issued 110 citations to dog owners violating leash laws since last year, Miles said.
