1) OKNA Help Wanted

The OKNA board is seeking someone to be the weekly email hero, and it doesn’t even have to be weekly!

We’re looking for someone to volunteer about an hour per mailing to compose the neighborhood email. Ideally this would be on a weekly schedule, or every other week. Emails have traditionally gone out on Fridays, but everything’s open for negotiation.

Training and support provided. Please email us at: info@OverlookNeighborhood.org

OKNA's Email List Policy:
Typically, the e-mail list is used to send out time-sensitive information about OKNA activities, government activities or hearings of interest to the community, events or crime reports. The List is not intended for any commercial use.

To Send a Message to the OKNA Email List:
4 Easy Steps to Your Neighborhood Email List

1. Please send your submission to info@ OverlookNeighborhood.org
2. Put in the Subject line: “Post to List (date)” where (date) is the Friday you'd like your message to appear.
3. Paste a plain text version of your message in the body of the email; pdf, jpg and other attachments can not be included and must be transcribed. Be sure to include the date, time and place (with address) of any gathering.
4. Please have your submission to us by the Thursday before you want your message to appear.

Messages about upcoming community events or crime reports will be forwarded to the list. Messages that do not clearly fall within those boundaries will be circulated to the OKNA Board in order to determine if there are any objections to the posting being sent out to the List.

OKNA's Facebook Page & Policy:
OKNA has a facebook page: www.facebook.com/OKNAinPDX Anyone with a Facebook account is welcome to 'like' our page and subscribe to the updates, and post their own neighborhood information. The Facebook page is open for Overlook business neighbors to post updates to, including commercial postings. Please keep public discourse civil and friendly. Facebook posts may be moderated in extreme cases.

2) Want to Recycle More?
Neighbor Jamie has just completed the city’s Master Recycler program and would like to know if anyone is interested in a neighborhood-wide initiative to recycle more than curbside pickups. Some neighbors already have an informal system for taking a group’s items to Far West Fibers; would you like help setting up something like that for your block, or do you have a bigger idea?
Contact us at OKNA and we’ll put you together with Jamie.

3) New Parking Requirements Hearing (3/12)

Attend the Bureau of Planning & Sustainability meeting on Tuesday, March 12th from 12:30-3:30pm.  The meeting will be held at 1900 SW 4th Ave, Suite 2500 Portland, OR 97201.
Joe Zehnder from BPS will be discussing the new parking requirements that have been suggested and there will be input from the community.  Please take time from your busy day to come, listen and comment.  Sometimes these meetings can seem fraught with tediousness but they play a significant role in shaping how rules, regulations and

codes will be implemented in our Neighborhoods.

Tuesday, March 12th, 6:30pm-8:30pm
George Middle School
