1) Sustainable Overlook Garden Tour (Tomorrow, 6/28)
Saturday, June 28th from 10 am to 3 pm
The garden tour is tomorrow! Come out for the 3rd annual Sustainable Overlook Garden Tour, featuring 10 pesticide-free gardens in many styles. Highlights include a green home with a living roof, a winery in a converted garage (with tastings available!), tours of a restored Victorian home with pollinator garden and an aquaponics system that produces fresh vegetables and fish year-round. Plus five of the gardens this year are in the Backyard Habitat Certification Program. Get to know your neighbors and get resources from The Xerces Society, the Backyard Habitat Certification Program, Slow Food PDX and many more.
The tour is bike-friendly and there will be extra bike parking at several stops thanks to bike racks from Good Sport Promotion.
Start the tour at Garden No. 1 (5929 N. Curtis Ave). or at Garden No. 10 (3908 N. Concord) to sign-in, make a contribution ($5 suggested donation) and get a tour map.

2) Town Hall on Portland Parks Replacement Bond (6/30)

Portland Parks has identified more than $365 million in needed replacement and major maintenance projects. We have a unique opportunity – if Portlanders continue to make the same rate of parks bond payments on property taxes over the next 20 years, it can generate an estimated $56-$68 million in bond revenue to pay for the most critical repairs to our parks system — and not increase tax rates. 3) National Night Out Info Fair/Kick Off Party (7/10)
As you are likely aware, National Night Out (NNO) is coming up in early August.
This year, we are planning a great kickoff party to celebrate the coming National Night Out festivities. The party will be held in Laurelhurst Park on the evening of Thursday, July 10th, from 5:30-7:30pm, and everyone is invited. The purpose of the kickoff event is to inspire people to participate in NNO and understand the meaning of the event. We want to show prospective hosts what is required to throw a great party, and to offer new party ideas to longtime NNO hosts.
During the kickoff party, we will also hold our annual Crime Prevention Awards to honor some amazing community members who make their neighborhoods safer and more fun.
Come join us for pizza and games. Chat with the mayor or the police or fire chief. Hear stories about community members inspired to improve their neighborhood. Learn how to close a street or reserve a park. Pick up some temporary tattoos to give out at your party. Everyone is welcome!
