2) Adopt an Overlook Family for the Holidays (now)

Each year, families living with low income are often left out of gift-giving and receiving. Whether by donating a new toy or needed food box, as Overlook residents you will have an opportunity to share the holiday spirit within your own community this year.

REACH Community Development's Patton Park Apartments (5272 N. Interstate) is home to over 40 children living below median income. REACH Resident Services is seeking Overlook residents who are interested in adopting a family for the holidays. To adopt or for more information, contact Erica Tucker, MSW- Resident Services Coordinator at (503)546-1662 etucker@reachcdc.org.

4) Help Troubled H

omeowners (12/3)

The U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), as part of the Obama Administration’s Making Home Affordable Program, are partnering with the HOPE NOW Alliance and NeighborWorks America® to bring a free homeowner event to the area. These events are designed to help bring together homeowners in financial distress for a face-to-face meeting with a representative from their mortgage lender and/or local housing counselor.

We are looking for volunteers to participate in our upcoming event:
Saturday, December 3, 2011, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM The Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr (MLK) Blvd.
Parking is free with voucher

We are hopeful that you will volunteer, provide volunteers from your agency and/or provide us with leads to other potential volunteers.  Volunteers are critical to the success of the day. We need at least 50 volunteers  per shift to help us with registration, exit surveys, directional guidance, translation and additional assistance that will help the day run smoothly for the homeowner.

Volunteer shifts are (feel free to sign up for more than one!):
8:00 AM-12:30 PM
12:00 Noon-4:30 PM

Volunteers will be provided with an event t-shirt, be fed, and receive free parking.   Onsite parking is complimentary (with voucher received upon departure). We are expecting approximately 20 mortgage lender companies and approximately 750-1,000 homeowners to attend.

If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering for this Foreclosure Prevention effort, please contact  Bonnie Wolferd ASAP at bonnie@wolferdconsulting.com ASAP.  In submitting your RSVP, please specify the following information:
