1. Give your election yard signs a second life

Give ONest your used Portland Schools YES signs!
Please help ONest (Overlook Neighborhood Sustainability Team) in our preparations for the Overlook Yard Sale/Free Share on July 16 & 17.  We’ll re-purpose the (nice, bright yellow) Portland Schools signs for the yard sale.  You can drop them by 3908 N. Concord (on the corner of Failing), or email ONest@ overlookneighborhood.org and we’ll pick them up.

Meanwhile, save those dates, and start collecting your yard sale treasures! And look for more information on the sale in the next Overlook Views!

2. Bands wanted for neighborhood block party

Block Party/Bands Wanted

Humboldt street will be having it’s 2nd annual block party on Saturday, July 16th.  Location: on Humboldt between Interstate and Concord. We are extending an invitation to everyone in Overlook, so please join us if you are around or stop by.

We are also in need of bands! If you play solo or are in a band and would like to play at the block party, please email me.  Our bands were a big hit last year

Regards,

Suzanne,

3. Call to Artists for the Overlook Village Celebration (7/30) From the Overlook Village Business Association…
Saturday July 30 11am-6pm on North Killinsgworth Avenue

Join us for the third annual Overlook Village Celebration, a summer street fair sponsored by the merchants and community of N Killingsworth and Greeley Avenues. Local artists are invited to apply for booth space to show and sell their works. Items should be handmade or made by you, no mass produced or store bought items please. Vendor fees are a low $25 this year.

Other events planned for the day include a farmers market, dog costume contest, plus live music, and local businesses will be holding sidewalk sales and specials. We expect this year to be even bigger and better than past years thanks to our professional coordinator and local media advertising.

To get your copy of the registration form, please email us at overlookvillage@gmail.com and then send it in soon, the Celebration is coming up soon! Join our facebook page for frequent updates http://www.facebook.com/OverlookVillage and post when you’ve registered for extra marketing joy for your booth.

Invite your friends and we’ll see you at the Overlook Village Celebration!

4. Storyteller Hour at the Overlook House (Mondays starting 6/6)

From the Overlook House…

Long time (20 plus years) Overlook Neighborhood resident Jerry Cowan invites you to bring your children to a free story hour at the Overlook House. Jerry and his wife Nancy have been married 37 years and have raised their three grown children in local North Portland Schools. As a Storyteller Jerry can stir a child’s imagination on a marvelous journey to a magical place swirling in the mist of legend and myth. Stories told, to each generation since the beginning of time by skilled Native American Storytellers. Stories carefully crafted for children but can still delight the imagination in the oldest adult.

Day: Mondays, beginning June 6th
Time: 4:00 to 5:00 pm
Location: In the Basement Room of the Overlook House
Children Must be Accompanied by a Parent or Adult Guest
