1. Overlook House Jam Session (1st & 3rd Mondays)

from the Overlook House Coordinator…

We had a great turnout for our first jam at the O House.  Everyone had a great time and wanted to have more.  So even if you missed the first one, you'll still be able to meet your fellow musician-neighbors, and have some fun jamming and visiting.  Bring yourself and your instrument to the Overlook House on the 1st & 3rd Monday evenings of each month at 7:00.  All instruments (including voice), all abilities, and all genres are welcome.  We'll see you on April 4th.

2. Grants from the North Portland Business Association

from the North Portland Business Association…

The North Portland Business Association encourages you to consider applying for a grant!   The NPBA will begin receiving grants beginning March 28th through 5 p.m. May 31st.   Beginning date of projects must be after July 1st and the project must be completed by June 30, 2012.  A vibrant community is sustained by supporting local businesses which provide goods and services as well as employment opportunities to the community.  The linkage between community and business is the focus of the grants program.  Build community assets through community organizations, projects and actions with the intent to improve quality of life in North Portland.  The North Portland Business Association encourages you to visit www.npbiz.org for how you can apply for a grant.  Current information for the grant process will be available on the website by March 29th.

3. PDC Community Livability Grant

The Portland Development Commission will have funds available in fiscal year 2011-12 for community livability projects in both the Lents Town Center and Interstate Corridor Urban Renewal Areas. PDC's Community Livability Grant Program began in the Interstate Corridor URA in 2006, expanded to the Lents Town Center URA in 2010, and has awarded nearly $2 million to more than three dozen projects that improve livability for residents and enhance the unique nature of the Interstate Corridor and Lents Town Center neighborhoods.

The grants support a wide variety of community benefits: historic preservation, open spaces and gardens, community and cultural centers, social services, jobs training, and the growth of local businesses. The work is not always visible, but investment supports each organization's ability to benefit the community.

Up to $300,000 in Community Livability grants will be awarded in the coming fiscal year in each of the two urban renewal areas. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, neighborhood and business associations and neighborhood groups.
