1) NAOBF is this weekend (6/27-6/30)
The North American Organic Brewers Festival always offers a $1 discount off the tasting cup to those who donate 3 cans of food, take Tri-Met, or ride their bike to the event (one discount per person). Now, they’re extending the offer to Overlook neighbors who walk to the event! If you live in the zip codes of 97227 or 97217, go to the "discount line" at the token sales booth on-site and show ID with proof of Overlook residency to receive $1 off.
Also, if any neighbors have any issues with noise from the stage this year, please call or text our stage manager, Daniel Sutherland, at 615-522-1411; he will be on-site at the event and can deal with any issues that arise.
A portion of this year’s proceeds will benefit the Overlook Neighborhood Association; thank you!

Notes from your neighbors & things we find:
– If you’re using a fire pit tonight, kindly douse it when you’re ready for bed so it doesn’t continue smoking. Neighbors’ windows are open. Thanks!
– Do you drive up N Going street ever.. to Greeley, interstate or I5? I am concerned about the safety of pedestrians and motorist in this area of fast moving mixed traffic.. If you have any concerns please contact Tori @ <Ask.ODOT@odot.state.or.us>; If more people say something.. things may change. (PS you can also call PBOT at 503.823.SAFE)
– Mulysa from Sustainable Overlook was interviewed by KGW news about Pesticide-free Overlook!
http://www.kgw.com/lifestyle/green/Portland-neighborhood-goes-pesticide-free–213237471.html
Join this campaign to eliminate pesticide use in Overlook by pledging that you won’t use any in your household. Just email your name and street address to sustainable@overlookneighborhood.org and you’ll get a ladybug yard sign, coupons plus resources from Metro’s natural gardening program.
– Unfortunately, we heard about two cat burglars this week. Especially now that the weather is hot, be cautious about open windows and doors; people will break in even if you are at home. There’s a great video from a pro burglar on the Facebook page to give you some tips for your personal safety.
Welcome to all the new ‘likers’ to our OKNA page; it works best when you contribute, like and share! Drop by www.facebook.com/OKNAinPDX and add us to your news feed.

4) Reach CDC Survey-Please Help (by 7/12)
Are you one of the randomly selected 823 households in Overlook to receive a survey recently from REACH CDC and Portland Housing Center? These organizations are asking for feedback on safety, livability, and perceived sense of community related to one of their projects. In 2016, they will conduct a follow-up survey with the same criteria in the hope that there will be measurable improvements in many, if not all categories.
As an incentive to get you to complete your survey, either on paper or online, by July 12, REACH is offering $40 gift certificates to Fred Meyer or New Seasons.
Thanks for completing your surveys on time!
