1. PBOT Continues Healthy Business Permits Through Oct. 21
The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) announced that it will continue to offer free permits for its Healthy Businesses program this summer to help combat the economic impacts the COVID-19 pandemic is putting on Portland businesses. Permits will be active from their issue date through Oct. 31, 2021.
Current Winter Healthy Businesses permits will expire on March 31, 2021. The summer 2021 application is now available online and open for all applicants at www.portland.gov/transportation/safestreetspdx/apply-healthy-businesses-permit.
In partnership with Venture Portland, PBOT will be leading a webinar for businesses beginning to plan their Healthy Businesses spaces. Click here to RSVP for Venture Portland’s ‘Successful Street and Sidewalk Activation’ on March 17 from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m.
2. Oregon Schools Reopening
Last Friday, Governor Brown announced she would be directing all Oregon public schools to offer universal access to in-person instruction on or before the weeks of March 29 for K-5 students and April 19 for students in grades 6-12.
After the weeks of March 29 and April 19, all public schools in Oregon will operate either fully on-site or via a hybrid instructional model when counties meet or exceed Oregon’s advisory COVID-19 metrics.
Oregon Public Broadcasting has details here on how Portland Public Schools is responding to this announcement. More info to come.
The Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Department of Education have an active dashboard tracking the status of schools reopening in every county, which you can review by clicking the image to the left.
