Libraries open back up
Starting on June 1 select public libraries have reopened to public visitors on a first come, first served and limited capacity basis. The libraries that are now open are Capitol Hill, Gresham, Holgate, Kenton, and Midland. All other libraries are offering holds pickup by appointment. Masks will be required of patrons at all times. Please note there will be time limits in place.
2. The 2021 summer reading program is released by the public library
Babies, kids and teens are welcome to play the Summer Reading game this summer by starting a daily reading habit. In addition, the library will have lots of fun interactive virtual performances, storytelling, and arts and crafts for kids and families. Starting June 16 you can pick up a gameboard or sign up online to play. Mark one space for each day you read or listen to a book, or do any of the fun activities. Each time you mark at least 15 days you can come to the library to receive a prize. For more info, click here.Â
3. Daily free meals and activities in parks this summer
This summer Portland kids can enjoy free lunch and activities at a number of parks around town. The program will run Monday – Friday every week from July 21 – August 20 and is open to all. Please note, there will be no programing on July 5th due to the observed holiday. For more info on specific locations and times of the events click here.Â
