Fremont Bridge: Upper Deck Paving Project Update – Summer 2011
A contractor for the Oregon Department of Transportation is preparing to repave the top deck (southbound direction) of the Fremont Bridge, which carries I-405 traffic across the Willamette River into downtownPortland . The Fremont Bridge repaving work will take place over several weekends, including the full closure of the upper deck for three weekends and the partial closure of the upper deck for at least one weekend (during the partial weekend closure, the left two lanes will be closed and the right two lanes will be open). In addition, the contractor will use multiple lane closures on the upper deck of the bridge during weeknights to comp

lete staging and other construction work during the summer and fall.

As of July 12, the contractor's latest schedule is:

** Partial Closure of the Upper Deck: Friday, July 22, at 11 p.m., to Monday, July 25, at 5 a.m. — left two lanes of upper deck closed (southbound); ramps from Kerby Avenue and I-5 north to Fremont Bridge are closed

** Full Closure of the Upper Deck: Friday, July 29, at 11 p.m., to Monday, August 1, at 5 a.m. — upper deck closed (southbound); all ramps to the upper deck are also closed

** Full Closure of the Upper Deck: Friday, August 5, at 11 p.m., to Monday, August 8, at 5 a.m. — upper deck closed (southbound); all ramps to the upper deck are also closed

** Full Closure of the Upper Deck: To be determined (this last weekend closure is not currently scheduled.)
**Please remember that the schedule is subject to change due to weather, equipment or other factors. We will update the project website (see below), as well as the http://www.TripCheck.com and 5-1-1 travel information systems, with the latest information when available.
