1) Adidas withdraws noise variance application

On Tuesday, the Overlook Neighborhood Association heard from neighbors concerned about adidas’ application to expand its construction work hours on weekends to as early as 5:30 a.m. on Saturdays and on Sundays, when work normally isn’t allowed, for more than a month. The board voted unanimously to oppose the changes and submitted a strongly worded letter to the city’s noise office that night. The chair also reached out to adidas directly.

Adidas withdrew its application on Wednesday and will do the necessary work in standard work hours. This was  great win for the neighborhood and the commonsense view that people deserve a chance to sleep in on the weekends and have Sundays off from construction work across the street.
