1) Ice Cream Social and Raffle at the Overlook House (8/5)
This Sunday, join your friends and neighbors for an old-fashioned Ice Cream Social. This annual event is a fundraiser for the historic Overlook House and is held in the beautiful back gardens from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Handmade Ice Cream is provided thanks to Lovely’s Fifty/Fifty.  Bring your favorite summertime hat, meet your neighbors, and enjoy some great Ice Cream. There will be activities for kids too.

This year’s Raffle Grand prize is the "New iPad 4G"  (thanks to the Overlook Family Restaurant), plus many other Local Gift Certificates.  You can buy tickets ahead of time (don’t have to be at the drawing to win) from any O House board member, or at the Overlook House, or buy extras at the Ice Cream Social.

2012  Yard Sale/Free Share Feedback
Thanks to all of the sellers, sharers and shoppers who participated in this year’s Yard Sale and Free Share. If you have any comments or criticism that you’d like to share, please e-mail onest@overlookneighborhood.org.

If you still have free items in the parking strip, please bring them in!  This is considered dumping by the city, and if they send someone out to clean it up, they will surely send you a bill. Let’s not take our neighbors’ generosity too far, thanks!

Help Build Intersection Repair Planters – In tandem with the painting of the N. Concord-Failing-Overlook intersection that happened in June, we will be building raised planters that will help to safely slow traffic through this five-pronged juncture. Local resident Tom Sowa will help to lead the effort and can be reached at Tom.Sowa@fortisconstruction.com if you’d like to help pitch in with this quick, fun building effort.

Intersection Repair Lost & Found – At this past June’s intersection painting, as high fives and hugs were going around celebrating completion, a cute size 8 girl’s turquoise fleece hoodie was found.  It’s hung up on the corner of N. Concord & Failing between the bike wheel and the walnut branch!

Edible Garden Tour Coming! Saturday, September 15, 10am-2pm, focusing on gardens that produce food.  If you’d like to show your garden, please contact us! We will put up a map of all our sites – check out our web page later in August to print it out! https://sites.google.com/site/overlooksustainability

5) I’m Paying For WHAT?

Property tax bills are coming soon, wait til you see where they go. Have a look through the auditor’s report on Portland finances to see. With ¼ of our tax payment going to Urban Renewal, and us living in an Urban Renewal Area (URA), it gets very interesting.
