Rebuilding Center Event and Volunteer Appreciation Day (Fri., June 4)

"People Power"  Volunteer Appreciation Day @ The Rebuilding Center
Friday June 4th 3-7pm

From the beginning, The Rebuilding Center of Our United Villages has been powered by of volunteers.  We would not be here if it weren’t for the support of volunteers.
To appreciate the greatness of your hard volunteer work with the Rebuilding Center , we are putting together a big appreciation event on Friday June 4, 2010.  At this event we will be showing how "People Power" can is a driving force in creating real lasting changes.  Sol Trekker will teach us about alternative energy, Green Microgym will have Bike power generators to power the event, Chiyu Center with energy healing and message table, and finally Pacific Northwest sculptors will build a life sized art LIVE.  Enjoy the live funky musical styling of local musicians Ural and company.  Refreshments and light snacks at the event. It’s going to be fun!

Failing Street Pedestrian Bridge Presentation (Fri., June 4)

Sixteen Portland State University architecture students have been working this term on developing a program and response to the current activities, conditions, and histories surrounding the Failing Street Pedestrian Bridge. They will be presenting their final projects and designs to the community at the Polish Hall on June 4th.

North American Organic Brewers Festival at Overlook Park (June 25-27)

Volunteer Event Friday May 28

The sixth annual North American Organic Brewers Festival comes to Overlook Park June 25 – 27, and they’re looking for volunteers!
Organizers are throwing a party at Roots Organic Brewing, 1520 SE 7th Ave, to recruit more volunteers for this year’s fest. They’re inviting beer lovers to stop by Roots next Friday, May 28 from 5 to 9 pm. There will be Happy Hour beers, complimentary snacks, plus 4 tokens for anyone who signs up to be a volunteer for this year’s event. If you’ve already signed up, just check with the staff to get your tokens.
