KICK IT UP! On North Killingsworth Street
Overlook Village Soccer Celebration & Street Fair: August 2, 2014 from 11am-4pm

3) School Supplies Popsicle Sale at Patton Square Park (8/6)
This Wednesday, residents of the Patton Park Apartments are selling popsicles and ice cream treats to raise funds for their school supplies.
The sale takes place on Wednesday August 6th from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm in Patton Square Park and coincides with our National Night Out Celebration.

4) OKNA Picnic: Tuesday, August 19th

5) Parking Discussion Group Forming
The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is seeking interested individuals to serve on the Stakeholder Advisory Committee for the Parking Analysis & Tool Kit for Neighborhood Centers and Corridors Project.

About the project
In this case, “tool kit” describes the suite of policies and programs available to manage on-street parking. We are reviewing and updating our parking management tools in light of more dense development along mixed use corridors and in neighborhood centers that are experiencing redevelopment. PBOT will take a close look at parking demand in 5 case study areas that best represent the type and intensity of development we are seeing and can expect in the future, and recommend new policy and code language related to parking demand management.
What is the role of the Stakeholder Advisory Committee?
The 20-member committee will serve an advisory role to PBOT staff throughout the project, from case study selection to development of recommendations that will be presented to City Council for adoption. The committee is expected to meet 6-8 times through June 2015. The first meeting will be held in mid-September.
Who should apply?
PBOT is interested in having diverse perspectives on the committee, particularly from individuals and organizations interested in parking and transportation issues that affect residents, businesses and visitors in mixed use centers and corridors. To that end, neighborhood associations, business associations, homeowners, renters, religious congregations, property developers, residential property managers, low income housing residents or advocates, environmental representatives, and neighborhood-scale commercial or retail business interests are encouraged to apply.

You can always call the helpline at 503-823-0195, but if you’d prefer to talk to somebody in person, or take a look at a big paper map of the Comprehensive Plan changes in your area, here’s your chance! 8) Communications Positions Open
Your OKNA Communications Chair is retiring her position in September and we are looking for people interested in sharing OKNA news with neighbors. We need help in the following areas; please consider taking on a satisfying project that will teach you about the internal workings of our city government and give you a chance to directly and positively impact your neighborhood!
Website: The website content is up to date but the template could use some updating. This position should be held by someone familiar with WordPress, who is willing to keep the site updated and secured. Most work is done in the WordPress dashboard but the webmaster should be familiar with the back end works as well. OKNA maintains several email accounts (with forwards) that this person should also assist with. We recommend having multiple content managers.
Facebook: Topping 600+ members, the OKNA Facebook page would be well served by having several administrators who can post to the page. The page is well connected with information for ‘shares’. Of you 600, are there 3 or 4 who’d help out with sharing posts and updates?
NextDoor: Similar to Facebook, but private, this social media site has an active constituency. OKNA could benefit from one person posting OKNA information (meetings etc) to the group. This group is not run by OKNA, we should just contribute there.
Newsletter: Our quarterly print newsletter needs a new coordinator to maintain contact with the OKNA board and community members to share Overlook news. This job can be done by multiple people, if they’ll coordinate. See past issues here: https://overlookneighborhood.org//news/
