OKNA General & Board Meeting Info 06/07/2024

 

Overlook Neighborhood Association General and Board Meeting Monday June 10, 2024 at Beach Elementary School from 6:30pm-8pm

Please join us for one of our community meetings, Monday June 10, 2024 at 6:30PM at Beach Elementary School at 1710 N Humboldt Street. 

Hear about upcoming events! The next 6 months are shaping up to be so fun with lots of opportunities to connect with neighbors and build community. FREE coffee provided by The Stacks Coffeehouse.

The General meeting agenda will be followed by a meeting of the OKNA Board of Directors aka the Board. Board meetings are public, but are closed to participation. Check out the full agenda HERE

As a reminder the July meeting will be at The Stacks Coffeehouse on Monday July 8, 2024 and the August Meeting will be a picnic at Patton Square Park on Saturday August 17, 2024.

Bike Ride through the Neighborhood Sunday June 9, 2024

Join Overlook neighbors for a leisurely ride through the neighborhood. Meet at The Stacks Coffeehouse at 9:30 to chat and have coffee.  And around 10/10:15 Nic, the OKNA Transportation Chair, will lead the ride.

Overlook Park Nature Patch Work Party Monday Jun 10, 2024

What: Garden Maintenance (weeding and mulching)

When: Monday, June 10th, from 9am-noon (drop in for as much time as you can)

Where: Overlook Park Nature Patch, (meet at the top of the hill along Overlook Blvd right here)

We’ll have tools and gloves. Please dress for the weather. We recommend you bring a water bottle, sturdy shoes, a hat, and long pants, a snack, etc.

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet the park’s new (very talented) horticulturalist, Patrick O’Connor.

Planning to do a yard sale this summer?
Well, the online form is now live to sign up to have your home pinned on our anonymous map: https://forms.gle/7cgVsFMvpqB8ouxc7
This year’s neighborhood-wide Yard Sale is planned for Saturday July 13th, with the corresponding Free Share set for Sunday July 14th. By signing up for the map, you’ll be joining dozens of other sales in the neighborhood, which helps to generate more foot traffic. This year, Porchfest will also be happening in the neighborhood on the same days, so there will be even more activity in the neighborhood, meaning more chances to sell or give away those unused items that have been clogging up your home.
Last year, over 55 homes signed up, making it our biggest year yet (at least since we started this version of it waaay back in 2011). If you want to participate, be sure to sign up before Sunday July 7th to make it on the map.

Can’t participate in this year’s Yard Sale or Free Share?

Or looking to support people seeking permanent housing in our community?  Do Good Multnomah and the Arbor Lodge Neighborhood Association are holding an event to collect gently used housewares and furniture to support individuals moving from shelters into permanent housing. Drop off donations at Peace Lutheran Church, 2201 N Rosa Parks Way on June 22 from 10 am – 1 pm.

Celebrate Juneteenth with a 5K Run Along the Overlook Bluff

Join the Big Yard Foundation on Wednesday June 19th (Juneteenth!) at 10am for a free 5k run along the Overlook Bluff with treats to follow.  Since 2020, The Big Yard has prioritized the celebration of the Juneteenth holiday as an opportunity to strengthen the community. 

The Big Yard Foundation is a non-profit organization based in North Portland, founded by North Portland native and NFL Veteran, Brennan Scarlett.
