Electrify Portland – Saturday, October 7th from 11am-3pm

On Saturday, Oct. 7th from 11am-3pm, over 30 exhibitors are converging at The Redd (831 SE Salmon St.) to offer product demonstrations, contractor introductions, kid entertainment, and free tasty treats. This public event kicks off Sustainable Building Week, which will conclude with Solar Oregon’s October 14th home tour.  Gather practical tips on how to electrify your home, get a free one-on-one consultation with an electrification expert, and learn about the incentives and financing that can help cover costs. Walk away with everything you need to start electrifying your home!

Overlook Neighborhood Association Meeting & Agenda – Monday October 9, 2023 at 6:30pm

Please join us for one of our community meetings, starting Monday October 9, 2023 at 6:30PM at Beach Elementary School at 1710 N Humboldt Street. Our General meeting agenda will be followed by a meeting of the OKNA Board of Directors aka the Board. Board meetings are public, but closed to participation.

Meet & Greet and Q&A with Commissioner Gonzalez and Station #8 Firefighters Tuesday, October 10, 2023 9:30-10:30am

You are invited to a community meet & greet and Q&A with Commissioner Gonzalez and Station #8 firefighters next Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 9:30am-10:30am at PF&R Station #8 located at 7134 North Maryland Avenue!

This event will be a great opportunity to:
Foster authentic connections between community members and firefighters that respond to incidents across North Portland.
Participate in a Q&A with Commissioner Gonzalez to hear updates on public safety and happenings from City Hall.
Enjoy some delicious pastries and coffee from North Portland small businesses.

Family-Friendly Low-Speed Pedal around Overlook on Sunday, October 15th, 2023 at 9:30am-11am

Join your neighbors for a family-friendly low-speed pedal around Overlook. On Sunday, October 15th, we’ll be touring the four NET staging areas in Overlook, learning what to do in the aftermath of a community emergency. Learn where your meeting spot is and what you can do to prepare your household for emergencies!

Sunday, October 15, 2023 at The Stacks Coffeehouse at 9:30am for a cup and a chat at 1831 N Killingsworth Street. The Ride departs at 10am and is a loop, concluding at The Stacks at about 11am.

NPNS Small Grants & Sponsorships Program

NPNS Small Grants & Sponsorships Program will provide $32,180 in funding to support small, emerging, and grassroots organizations dedicated to strengthening neighborhood livability and civic engagement in North Portland. The Small Grants & Sponsorship Program funds events, activities, and projects that strengthen community, build inclusion, and support engagement with City government. New this year, the Small Grants program offers two types of awards this cycle: Small Grants and Sponsorships

Funds will prioritize engagement led by and serving communities historically underrepresented and underserved by the City of Portland such as elders, youth, people with disabilities, houseless people, Black, Indigenous and other People of Color, immigrants and refugees, low-income individuals and families, and LGTBQIA2S+ people. Any group or small organization is encouraged to apply.
