Help Stop Zenith Energy!
Zenith Energy, a Houston-based fossil company, is pursuing a new Air Contaminant Discharge permit that they need to continue their oil-by-rail and fossil fuel storage operations in our city. After receiving a special City Council land use approval, which strangely occurred only months after an initial denial by the City, it is now in the hands of the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to approve or deny Zenith’s Air Contaminant Discharge permit. If you are concerned about oil, gas, and other fossil fuels being transported through and stored near our Overlook Community, please consider…
1. Writing a comment to the DEQ, starting at their website: https://www.oregon.gov/deq/programs/pages/zenith.aspx
2. Joining 350PDX (https://350pdx.org/campaigns/fossil-fuel-resistance/stopzenith/) on Tuesday, November 19th at 6 p.m. at the University of Portland for a rally before the official DEQ public hearing.
3. Joining 350PDX virtually on Wednesday, December 4 at 6 p.m. for the final public hearing on Zoom.
The Oregon DEQ comment period closes at 5pm on December 16th.
