1. REMINDER: Community Block Party – Re-Paint the Intersection With Us!

On Saturday July 24th Overlook Neighbors will be gathering for a block party and to re-paint the intersection at N Overlook Blvd/NFailing/N Concord. Join us from 9am-4pm for a painting party and planning our new permanent planter boxes that make this intersection a neighborhood treasure!
We will provide the paint and close the street; bring your paint brushes, rollers or foam daubers to leave your mark on this landmark street graphic or just drop by to meet some of your neighbors and cheer us on.
If you cannot participate in person, you can support this project financially. With no group sponsorship this year, we must crowdsource for this neighborhood resource and ask you to contribute as you can. The cost of paint has doubled since our original paint day and your donations will leave a colorful mark on the neighborhood!
Your neighborhood organizers include Amara Callahan, Josh Cabot, Leslee Lewis, Marsha Parks and Michelle Thompson. Message us at mxthompsonpdx@gmail.com

2. August 1st NoPo Greenway Bike Ride

A small (5 mile / less than an hour) ride with your neighbors and explore Overlook and Arbor Lodge neighborhoods via our great Concord/Bryant/Willamette Neighborhood Greenways!

Family Friendly, casual ride. We’ll stay off busy streets ( a few blocks with protected, buffered bike lanes on Willamette Blvd) and talk about wayfinding and answer greenway questions for new riders, rollers, and explorers.

We’ll ride from Overlook Park around 11:15am to Arbor Lodge Park and continue on a loop along Concord, Bryant, Willamette Blvd greenways. Ride the loop as many times you like! I’ll take a small break at Arbor Lodge Park each time for bathrooms/water/QA and pick up any new folks who want to join later! I’ll hope to have a stock of bike maps for anyone who wants one.

Led by Nic Cota.

3. Portland Releases List of Potential Safe Rest Villages

Portland City Council recently published a comprehensive list of city-owned sites that are under consideration for use as a Safe Rest Village site (link to story). These sites are not final as the city will be reviewing them to determine suitability. In addition, the city expects additional public properties to be added to the list, and is looking to lease properties from private landowners. The OKNA board will be monitoring progress and reaching out to Overlook residents as we learn more information. For more information click here.
