About OKNA

The Overlook Neighborhood Association welcomes everyone! Our neighborhood includes more than 3,500 homes, more than 6,000 residents, a thriving industrial area (including the North American Headquarters of adidas America and Daimler Truck North America), and several main street commercial areas with shops, bars and restaurants. Everyone who lives, owns property or who works within the boundaries of Overlook is part of OKNA. Please attend a meeting and get involved.

OKNA is one of Portland’s nearly 100 recognized Neighborhood Associations and serves as a liaison between residents of the neighborhood and the city government. We are supported in part by the Office of Community and Civic Life (OCCL, formerly the Office of Neighborhood Involvement).

Members elect a board each year that shares the various duties and addresses areas of interest to the neighborhood including land use, business, parks and greens spaces, public safety, and more.

Meeting minutes are available online.

OKNA Board Members and Committee Chairs:

The OKNA Board is made up of volunteer neighbors elected by the general membership. Board members work to connect neighbors with each other, with city government and with other neighborhoods within Portland. They monitor land use, transportation, parks and business development in the area to look out for Overlook’s interests. The board is dedicated to making Overlook a better neighborhood to live and work in.

See the Contact page for the current board members and their contact details.

Elections:

The Overlook Neighborhood Association hosts open-style elections annually at the September general meeting. Our bylaws also allow the election to take place after the meeting at designated voting locations.

All members of OKNA who are present at the September meeting and are at least 18 years old are eligible to run for a board position. Active members, defined as members who have attended a meeting in the previous six months, are eligible to vote.

OKNA’s E-mail Bulletin:

OKNA’s e-mail Bulletin is a way for you to receive time-sensitive information from the neighborhood association specific to Overlook and OKNA’s areas of interest. These are usually public notices about hearings or meetings, neighbor work parties, or other non-commercial notices we receive. E-mails are sent in a digest format, usually sent bi-monthly.

To join the list, please enter your email address https://forms.gle/uFYsATMrzwmJ5hmx9 and look for your confirmation email (check your spam folder and whitelist our address).

OKNA’s E-mail Policy:
The Overlook Neighborhood Association (OKNA) maintains an e-mail address list to facilitate communication with neighbors. Residents may subscribe to the OKNA Bulletin through https://forms.gle/uFYsATMrzwmJ5hmx9

Typically, the e-mail list is used to send out time-sensitive information about OKNA activities, government activities, or hearings of interest to the community, events, or crime reports. The list is not intended for any commercial use. The OKNA Board considers the list a valuable resource for communicating with the community and is committed to keeping the number of mailings manageable and relevant. The names and e-mail addresses of members are not sold, rented, shared, or used for any purpose other than those explained here.

The Overlook Neighborhood Association, its board, and its members do not endorse the events, programs, services, or other items included in messages distributed on the list. This information is provided as a community service.

Submissions should be received no later than Tuesday at 5 p.m. for consideration to be included in the OKNA Bulletin. They can be sent to info@overlookneighborhood.org. We reserve the right to edit and decide on all content included in list emails and other OKNA publications.
