1) Santa comes to Overlook tomorrow

Join your neighbors welcoming Santa Claus to the Overlook Neighborhood. The Jolly Old Elf will arrive at the Historic Overlook House (3839 N Melrose Dr.) on a local fire truck at 11 a.m. tomorrow (Sunday, Dec. 2). Have your picture taken with Santa while you whisper to him what you want for the holidays.

Children’s favorite, Mo Phillips will entertain from 11:15 to 12:45, and don’t miss the fantastic face-painter. This popular event is organized yearly for the neighborhood by the Friends of Overlook House.

2) Annual neighborhood holiday party Friday

Come celebrate the season with your Overlook Neighbors on Friday (Dec. 7), 6-8 p.m. at our annual Winter Party & Potluck. We’ll share cheer, food and fun at Daybreak Commons (2525 N Killingsworth St.). As always, please bring a dish to share if you can, but it’s not required. There will be a raffle with tremendous prizes provided by neighbors and Overlook businesses.

3) Slow down on N Killingsworth Street

The Portland Bureau of Transportation has reduced the speed limit on N Killingworth Street between Greeley and Interstate from 30 to 25 miles per hour. PBOT crews will install new signs in coming weeks.

4) Join Portland’s Fixing Our Streets Oversight Committee

Are you interested in learning about Portland’s transportation system? Do you want to shape and contribute to discussions about the future of the transportation system in Portland? Do you want to keep an eye on street spending to make sure Overlook and North Portland get a fair share? If you said yes to one or more of these questions, then you should consider applying to sit on the Portland Bureau of Transportation’s Fixing Our Streets Oversight Committee.

If you are interested in volunteering, please review the job description and complete the Membership Application form. The Fixing Our Streets Oversight Committee membership is intended to represent a cross-section of diverse expertise, skill sets, background and viewpoints. The application deadline is Dec. 14.

5) OKNA Board meeting

The Overlook Neighborhood Association Board will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 6:30-8 p.m. at the Historic Overlook House (3839 N Melrose Dr.). The board will discuss grant awards, tolling on I-5 at the Alberta/Going exit and more. Check out the full agenda.
