1) Overlook Neighborhood Summer Social

Come hang out with your neighbors and meet members of the Overlook Neighborhood Association Board at our summer social on Tuesday at Atomic Pizza (1936 N Killingsworth St.), 6:30-8:30 p.m. Atomic will have food specials for residents.

If you have questions or ideas about what’s happening in the neighborhood, this is your chance to discuss them in an informal setting. It’s also an opportunity to get to know the people who live around you.

The summer social is held instead of the OKNA’s August general meeting.

2) Filming in Overlook

Two production crews will be in and near Overlook this week.

On Monday, Shrill (Season 1) will film at Broder Nord, which is at the intersection of N Interstate and N Albina avenues. Parking the area will be impacted, but the shoot is not expected to affect traffic. See this announcement for more details.

The Disney production Timmy Failure returns to Overlook Thursday to Saturday. They will be shooting near Patton Square Park. Parking on nearby streets will be limited, and North Montana Avenue will be closed to traffic (local access only) between N Killingsworth and N Emerson streets Friday, 7-4. See this announcement for more details.

3) North Police Precinct open house

The North Precinct, which serves Overlook, will host a family-friendly open house on Saturday, Aug. 25 10-2. There will be hot dogs, ice cream, beverages, giveaways and various units represented (including explosive devices, motorcycles and K9s). A re-dedication of the Peace Pole will occur at 10 a.m. Tours of the Precinct will be available from 10:30-noon.

The North Precinct is located at 449 NE Emerson St.

4) Event at adidas

Adidas wants neighbors to know that the company will hold a happy hour event for the Flag Football League Championship on Thursday, 4-8 p.m. They expect about 100 guests outdoors on the east plaza of the campus.

5) Tour de Lab returns to Overlook

The Tour de Lab bike ride, a fundraiser for Dove Lewis Animal Hospital, will take place on Sept. 2. Riders will use the Lucky Labrador Tab Room on North Killingsworth as a rest stop. Routes and more information can be found on the official website.

Organizers anticipate about 600 riders. Riders will start in waves over 2.5 hours to ensure they will be spread out on route. Route marshals will be in place at important intersections to ensure safety, there also will be motorcycle escorts on the course. The event will get to Overlook about 10 a.m. N Concord Street, east of the Lucky Lab, will be closed beginning at 9. All riders should clear the area by 2 and the Concord re-opened by 2:30.

All participants receive heavy messaging in the website, event flyers, emails, and at the ride start regarding respectful shared road/path usage, and they commit to abide by this. If you have any questions, contact Events By Axiom at events@EventsByAxiom.com
