Overlook Neighborhood update (June 10)

1) Adidas expansion update

Adidas has been communicating with the neighborhood for months about its campus expansion plans. It now has sent the official notice to the neighborhood about the new buildings as required by the city. The company will attend the Overlook Neighborhood Association’s June 19 General Meeting to present updates and hear residents’ input.

Adidas already has presented its plans at a voluntary Design Advice Request before the city’s Design Commission at two public meetings. We linked to the results of the first meeting previously, and the results of the second meeting are now available. Read them here.

Among its findings, the Design Commission’s report states, “Commissioners noted that continued efforts to work with the Neighborhood Association and adjacent neighbors most immediately impacted would be fruitful to continue, particularly on matters of social behavior Adidas and the Neighborhood can agree upon.”

The full agenda for the June 19 meeting will be included in next week’s neighborhood update.

2) Learn how to fix your bike

The North Portland Tool Library will hold a free Bike Basics Workshop on June 17, noon-2 p.m. in the parking lot of Farrell Realty (4772 N Lombard St.). Learn the nuts and bolts of bike repair and maintenance at this free workshop. The first 20 attendees will receive a complimentary bike light, courtesy of Farrell Realty.
